K-STATE'S MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE TO BE AWARDED TO DISTINGUISHED ALUM PAUL EDGERLEY
MANHATTAN -- A distinguished graduate and longtime supporter of Kansas State University will be awarded the university's highest honor.
Paul Edgerley, Brookline, Mass., a 1978 distinguished graduate who has built a successful career as a financial manager and consultant, will receive K-State's Medal of Excellence at the Graduate School's commencement ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Bramlage Coliseum.
"Paul has been a devoted K-Stater for many years," said Jon Wefald, K-State president. "His dedication to his alma mater is evident in the generous gifts he's made to benefit the students of today and tomorrow. Paul Edgerley is not only one of K-State's most successful alums ever, he is one of our most generous donors in the history of K-State."
Edgerley graduated from K-State's College of Business Administration in 1978, going on to receive his master's in business administration with honors from Harvard Business School. He has worked as a certified public accountant for Peat Marwick, Mitchell & Company, and as a consultant in the health care, information services, retail and automobile industries. Since 1990, he has been a managing director at Bain Capital Inc., a private investment firm in Boston with more than $45 billion in assets under management.
Edgerley and his wife have made several gifts of time and money to many K-State colleges and projects, including an endowed chair in the College of Business Administration. He serves on the Kansas State University Foundation's executive committee, is a member of the College of Business Administration's advisory council, was an Alumni Fellow in 2002 and was named Distinguished Business Leader of the Year by the College of Business Administration in 2004.
The Edgerleys also served as national chairs of K-State's Changing Lives Campaign. He has been a member of the Kansas State University Foundation's President's Club since 1994 and a member of its board of trustees since 1999.
