GARY CLARK NAMED SENIOR ASSOCIATE DEAN OF K-STATE'S COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

MANHATTAN -- Gary A. Clark has been named senior associate dean of the College of Engineering at Kansas State University.

He will begin the academic and administrative duties of this position in early January 2009, stepping down as head of the department of biological and agricultural engineering at that time.

Clark joined the College of Engineering faculty at K-State in 1994. Prior to that he had held academic appointments at the University of Florida. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Florida, as well as a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, all in agricultural engineering.

Named to head K-State's biological and agricultural engineering department in 2005, Clark is a noted expert in irrigation system design and management, hydraulics of irrigation components, and crop water management. He has published widely, conducted irrigation system design management workshops in the U.S., Mexico and Egypt, and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Kansas.

"We are delighted that someone of Dr. Clark's caliber and depth of experience will be joining our administrative team as we move forward in our academic endeavors," said John English, dean of the College of Engineering.

Clark replaces Richard Gallagher, associate dean of engineering, who will begin phased retirement in the spring 2009 semester.
