The Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance
(Great Plains IDEA) is a consortium of eleven universities offering
fully online graduate programs. Each university brings a unique
strength to the multi-institution academic programs. In a multi-institution
degree program, you apply, and are admitted at one university; enroll
in all your courses at that university; and, graduate or receive
a certificate from that university. However, your online courses
are taught by the best faculty in the discipline from several universities.
The masters degree and graduate certificate
in family financial planning are a double bonus. Not only do they
create the career opportunities associated with a graduate education,
they also prepare you to take the Certified Financial Planner examination.
This online graduate program is registered by the
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. CFP® and Certified
Financial Planner® are federally registered service marks of
the Certified Financial Planner® Board of Standards, Inc. They
are granted by the CFP® Board to those persons who have fulfilled
a comprehensive educational requirement, passed the CFP® Certification
Examination, satisfied a work experience requirement, and agreed
to abide by the CFP® Board code of ethical conduct. This is not
a guarantee you will pass the exam, only that you will meet the
education requirements to take the exam.
After completing your educational requirements, you
will work with the CFP Board on examination, experience and ethics
requirements for CFP® certification. As a Certified Financial
Planner® professional, you will have the satisfaction of helping
people solve their financial problems and reach their financial
goals. The CFP Board website at http://www.cfp.net
has extensive CFP certification information. We advise students
admitted to the Great Plains IDEA online degree program to obtain
the Guide to CFP Certification. The guide includes an application
for the exam, exam fee information, exam procedures and information
on the required work experience.
