Margaret Fitzgerald is dean of the College of Human Development and Education at North Dakota State University in Fargo. Prior to moving into administration, she taught in both the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (Great Plains IDEA) Family Financial Planning and Gerontology programs. Currently she serves on the Great Plains IDEA Human Science Board of Directors and is board liaison to the Great Plains IDEA Dietetics program.
Fitzgerald studies family-owned businesses with the Family Business Research Group which collected the National Family Business Panel data (1997, 2000, 2007 and 2016 waves). Her research interests include copreneurial couples, gender and management, business social responsibility and community vitality.
