Biography

Theresa Ireland is the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance Coordinator at South Dakota State University (SDSU). She also has several other roles in the Continuing and Distance Education office, including student advising and facilitating degree-completion initiatives.

Ireland first began working in higher education as an undergraduate student where she was a peer mentor in SDSU’s Academic Success Program. After she completed her psychology degree, she continued working with the Academic Success Program as a graduate student, taking on teaching and supervisory responsibilities.

After finishing her M.Ed. in Student Affairs, Ireland began working in her current role as student services facilitator with Continuing and Distance Education. She is known for creative problem-solving and social justice advocacy.

Ireland lives in Brookings, South Dakota. In her spare time, she enjoys singing in the University Women’s Choir, yoga and baking. She is also fond of hiking, traveling and attending concerts with her doting husband.
