Design and Evaluation of Youth Programs

Course Description
The course will discuss the principles and methods of program design, implementation, and evaluation of youth programs. This course will focus on hands-on tools of conducting evidence-based planning and evaluating the performance and delivery process of a program. Students will develop knowledge through participating in a community-based project involving the practical application of program design and evaluation methods. The goal is to prepare students for research supported planning and evaluation of programs that aim at positive youth development.

Approximately two to three weeks before the first day of class, UNL Graduate Studies will email students with information (student name, email, and NU ID) and instructions for accessing UNL classes.  For undergraduate students in the ECEMS program, Kaelie Kellner will email students with information and instructions for accessing UNL classes. Students will claim their UNL account by setting a password and security questions. Once students claim their ID, they will be able to access their courses at its.unl.edu/myunl/.  Courses may not be visible to students until the first day of class.

Starting graduate school in the middle of the pandemic, with my husband having lost his employment due to the pandemic, and with the various health issues I have regarding my vision, I found the GP IDEA experience to be what I mentally needed to motivate me not only in my career but also in my personal life.  It gave me a challenge and a purpose during the dark pandemic, and this type of motivation is what I needed to feel constructive again.
