Biography

One of the most widely-read French authors, Alexandre Dumas was a novelist and playwright in the 1800s. In 1844 he penned The Three Musketeers, a French historical adventure novel, that has heroic, chivalrous swordsmen who fight for justice and are known for saying "All for one and one for all!"

When Great Plains IDEA was founded in 2001, the faculty, staff, and administrators chose "All for one and one for all" as their motto because they were working across state lines and navigating various university policies. They understood that for this collaboration to work, everyone had to be committed to its success.
