Course Description
In this course, students analyze principles and practices of community change and development. Using case studies, students relate community development approaches to conceptual models from diverse disciplines. Students explore professional practice principles and construct their personal framework for practicing community development.

Course Access
 
Approximately three weeks before the first day of class at North Dakota State University, campus coordinator Stacy Duffield will touch base with students via email.  She will encourage students to look for an email the week before classes start that will include instructions for accessing courses at NDSU.  
 
One week before NDSU classes begin, students will receive Stacy's email which includes their ID number, user ID name, and instructions for setting up their Blackboard account at NDSU.  Students may then set their own password and security questions, choose to forward emails to a different account, and activate their NDSU Live account. 
 
Courses may not be visible to students until the first day of classes.

This change took me from the traditional on-campus experience to the Great Plains IDEA online experience. The switch seemed intimidating to me but it ended up being an incredible experience that I would not have gotten if I'd taken all classes at one university. Getting to dive into courses offered at schools all over the country was beneficial as it opened pathways for communication and sharing of knowledge with students and faculty I would not normally have interacted with.
