Tuition Structure

Students pay the Great Plains IDEA common price per credit hour for graduate courses or undergraduate courses at all universities, regardless of degree program or course, or whether in-state or out-of-state.

The common price is split between the teaching university (75%), the enrolling university (12.5%), and the alliance (12.5%). Invoicing occurs three times per year, once each semester. The home university collects the common price tuition from students.

The Great Plains IDEA Finance Officers group (representative of member universities) reviews and sets the common price each fall for the next academic year. Learn more on our cost page.

Pie chart shows how the common price income is divided with 75% going to the teaching university, 12.5% going to the home university, and 12.5% going to the lead institution.
