Arboriculture

Course Description
Physiological principles and industry practices in the production, moving, care, and maintenance of ornamental trees, shrubs, and ground covers will be explored. Students will develop the career tools to install and maintain woody plants. This goal will be accomplished through the review of the pertinent literature and through class exercises designed to improve the students’ skills and knowledge of woody plant physiology, care and maintenance. This course is designed for students without previous experience in arboriculture.

Approximately two weeks before the first day of class at Texas Tech University, the TTU campus coordinator, Ashlee Murden, will email instructions to each student enrolled in the courses taught by Texas Tech. This e-mail will contain information regarding the setup of their eRaider access through the campus IT Help Central department. If assistance is needed regarding setup of their eRaider access, IT Help Central can be contacted at 806-742-4357 (HELP) or toll-free at 877-484-3573 or ithelpcentral@ttu.edu. Students will need to identify themselves as a GPIDEA/AGIDEA student to IT Help personnel for proper guidance. The e-mail will also include information about accessing the Texas Tech Blackboard system for their courses. Courses will be available on the first day of class, but may not be available prior to that date.

Exam Proctor

Reuel Drilon is a student in the gerontology and aging studies program.As a non-traditional college student in my early 50s, living and working in the Pacific Island of Guam, choosing the right program for graduate studies was very important to me. The Great Plains IDEA program met and exceeded all my expectations. Concepts from every course have been applied in my profession to the extent that it has aided in the expansion of our services and the population we serve. As I reflect on these successes, I attribute much of it to the genuine care of the GP IDEA professors who were as passionate about the success of each student as they were in the subjects they taught. GP IDEA was definitely the right program for me!
